	Green groups join forces on biodiveristy The Victoria Naturally Alliance of eight peak environment groups, including Environment Victoria, has made a submission to the Victorian Government’s Land and Biodiversity at a Time of Climate Change Green Paper. In the submission, the Alliance said that Victoria had a great opportunity to be a leader in the conservation of Australia's biodiversity, to contribute to global efforts to sustain all elements of our natural environment, and to commit to funding long-term protection programs for the ecological processes and all the species under Victoria's care. 	Environment Victoria's response to the Federal Government's Emissions Trading Green Paper The Federal Government's Emission Trading Green Paper has drawn a mixed reaction from Victoria's peak environment group. Environment Victoria Campaigns Director Mark Wakeham acknowledged that the Federal Government had a difficult juggling exercise on its hands. “We won’t know until the end of the year when the targets are announced whether the scheme will lead to substantial emissions reductions in its first years of operation,’’ Mr Wakeham said.
